Sunday 28 June 2020, 28th Day of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for all the rain overnight and this morning, the day clearing to a mostly sunny afternoon, perfect for going for a walk as far as Clifton 4th Beach, as well as a late afternoon one through Bakoven, bumping into Haakon and Thomas Bauerkämper, the most often seen exercisers since Lockdown began over 3 months ago, I wearing a short-sleeved top, it was so nice and warm; for being a busy 🐝 this morning, having a deadline by which the Body Corporate AGM queries had to be sent to Sandak-Lewin 48 hours in advance, despite their Portfolio Manager still not having answered all my AGM questions sent to him a week ago, earning him a big fat Sour Service Award 😡; for a long cat cuddle in bed this morning 🐱; for a long chat with my MasterChick Jenny Stephens; for dancing to my playlist and to Kfm; for my stress level dropping, measured by my Resting Heart Rate; for receiving a call from the lovely Law Enforcement Officer Ivor Ramsay, who is back to look after Camps Bay, even if just for a few more days; for another concert by Daniel Hope with his Hope @ Home on Tour, performed at the Monopol, formerly a Distillery in Berlin; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

I have a distaste for Accounting, dating back to my B. Comm studies, the only subject I ever failed in my life, but then sailed through a repeat exam of it. This morning I worked through the financial statements and Budget for the AGM, shocked to see that the managing agents want to increase their fee by 10%, when the inflation rate is 2,4%. 😡

We live in interesting times, with restaurants allowed to open from tomorrow, but many will not, if they cannot serve alcohol with the meal, and if there are no tourists here yet. A story I’ll post tomorrow. And there is so much confusion as to how many diners restaurants can seat for Sit-Down.

I was shocked to read that go-getter Randolf Jorberg of Beerhouse left for Germany last night, writing that his turnover is 10% of the norm. He has been an amazing powerhouse in creating and leading a Hospitality owners Whats App group, restaurant dominated, which I have the privilege of being able to follow in the past three months. He is looking for opportunities for his brand outside of our country, and to clear his head for new ideas. 😱

My Sunday evening entertainment was the concert from Berlin, with Daniel Hope on the violin. It ended with a Social Distancing Dance called ‘DisTanz’ in German, a play on words, as ‘Tanz’ means Dance in German. And then I was lucky to find a live-streamed concert with violinist Joshua Bell performed at the Academy of St Martin in the Fields in London.  How lucky we are 🎶🎵❤️

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, and lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
