Thank you 2020 for everything that you have taught me, my Top 20 of 2020!

I was very excited about the year 2020, having the 20th as a birthdate, and it being my lucky number. Despite the tragedy of the Corona Virus pandemic and the inconvenience of the Lockdown regulations at times, 2020 turned out to be one of my best ever, learning from it and growing through it.

On Facebook I have posted daily Corona Gratitudes, for the small and big things that have come my way in the past 9 months. There are far too many to mention, so I have turned this post into a Top 20 of 2020, an unforgettable year for all of us. Continue reading →

Western Cape Tourist Guiding registration goes online, will it speed up the process?

Having been through a two-month process of obtaining my Tourist Guiding badge, using the Western Cape Department of Economic Affairs and Tourism manual procedure to do so by submitting numerous pages via email, it was interesting to read that the Province is now offering an online Tourist Guide registration and renewal procedure.

It appears that the issuing of tourist registration cards (mine took two months) and tourist badges (still not received after three and a half months) may delay the online registration process, in that a number of departmental processes and procedures may still hold up the registration process, and may not make the Tourist Guide registration process any faster. Trying to register within the Covid Lockdown has added to the delay in the registration process.  I had to request Western Cape Premier Alan Winde for support, with a follow up, and have been impressed with the interaction with Ilse van Schalkwyk, the Chief Director of Economic Sector Support.

Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 50 of Level 3, 20 July 2020.

Monday 20 July 2020, Day 50 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for another beautiful day, but not as warm as yesterday; for an early wake-up, and a second snooze after having completed most of my writing; for a chat to a Camps Bay resident, who sought some advice of how we can assist families in our suburb that are struggling; for a good walk through Camps Bay and Bakoven done in one go; for catching up on my Food Delivery & Collection Group, having been very depressed about our poor Restaurant industry last week; for an amazing response time from Premier Alan Winde when I requested assistance for my Tourist Guide card and badge; for the fabulous news from Discovery Insure that they will cover the cost of the repair of the storm damage to my house in Hermanus, only having switched to the company two months ago 👏👏👏; for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 8 at Level 3, 8 June 2020.

Monday 8 June 2020, Day 8 of Level 3, after 66 days of Level 4 and 5 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a peaceful organized day; for a sunny day, not too cold even though it only reached 18C, with midday mist; for completing the complicated 4-page Form of the Provincial Tourism authority, sending it with 5 certificates of support, after getting all the certificates stamped at the police station; for getting my admin work for the day done quickly; for a shorter walk than normal, my hip being very painful today, probably due to the change in weather coming soon; for a lovely snooze this afternoon; for a long chat to restaurateur Ian Halfon, who is opening a mega Food Delivery and Collection service from Friday onwards (Blogpost tomorrow); and for being fit and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →
