Monday 20 July 2020, Day 50 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for another beautiful day, but not as warm as yesterday; for an early wake-up, and a second snooze after having completed most of my writing; for a chat to a Camps Bay resident, who sought some advice of how we can assist families in our suburb that are struggling; for a good walk through Camps Bay and Bakoven done in one go; for catching up on my Food Delivery & Collection Group, having been very depressed about our poor Restaurant industry last week; for an amazing response time from Premier Alan Winde when I requested assistance for my Tourist Guide card and badge; for the fabulous news from Discovery Insure that they will cover the cost of the repair of the storm damage to my house in Hermanus, only having switched to the company two months ago 👏👏👏; for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙
My Blogpost today was about the survey conducted by the company of restaurateur Marius Blanc, which found that many restaurants are evaluating if they will remain open for Sit-Down service after the end of this month, making poor turnover compared to a year ago.
I received a reply from the Provincial Department of Economic Affairs & Tourism, to my email chasing my Tourist Guiding Badge and Card, not yet received six weeks after having sent in all my documentation and having paid the fee, implying that they have run out of budget! I saw red, and luckily have the Premier’s email address. He responded within ten minutes, and copied in the head of the department and another head of a division, and I’m sure things will start moving. One of my fellow classmates got his card late this afternoon.
I want to celebrate about the amazing Discovery Insure call I received a few minutes ago. Sweet Service Award for sure.
I’m disappointed to hear that the Camps Bay restaurants are unlikely to participate in the street protest on Wednesday.

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, and lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
