Wednesday 1 July 2020, Day 31 of Level 3, after 66 days at Levels 5 and 4 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beautiful summery Winter day, ahead of a weather change tomorrow; for a good working morning; for an energetic walk to Fourth Beach Clifton, with no torn garbage bags; for being excited to see the City Parks department coming to Camps Bay to mow the lawns, the area around the Stream looking superb now; for checking out which restaurants are open for Sit-Down in Camps Bay; for a shop at Woolworths, Manager Gary Arendse coming to greet me after we hadn’t seen each other there for a while; for a VitD snooze on the terrace; for our vegetable garden getting on fabulously; for my suggestion to our Portfolio Manager to connect Henry to the internet in a money-saving manner being accepted, a positive outcome from the AGM yesterday🙏; for getting a Discovery Gameboard play; for receiving R300 CashBack on the jacket which I bought at Sportsman’s Warehouse, and R340 for my healthy food purchases at Woolies, both done in June, a nice surprise from Discovery; for Minsky just returning from a long walk-about which made me very anxious🐱; and for being healthy and happy. 🙏💙

There was a noisy start to the day in the building this morning, not sure who was walking in the building as I’m the only person living here at the moment 😡😡😡. It turned out to be staff coming to clean two apartments for clients due to have arrived today – not sure how this is allowed given the non-AirBnB regulation – but in the end they did not arrive… 😱

I did my monthly update of the restaurants opening and closing, there barely being any openings and more than 40 permanent Restaurant Closures in the Cape so far. 😱😢😢😢

Cape Restaurant Covid-19 Closures exceed 40, Restaurants for Sit-Down reopen in Lockdown Level 3 but most retain Delivery/Collection Service: July 2020!

I updated the Facebook Group Food and Alcohol Delivery and Collection list, including the Sit-Down restaurants which have reopened.

The Camps Bay Restaurants which have opened for Sit-Down Service are Tiger’s Milk, Caprice, Vida e Caffe, Kauai, Sunset Sessions, The Raj, La Belle, SurfShack, Bootlegger, Col’Cacchio, and Dizzy’s. Most of these restaurants are also offering an alcohol and food delivery and collection service. Zenzero opens on Friday. Bilbao and Paranga open on Tuesday 7 July. The Bungalow opens on Thursday 9 July. Primi Piatti opens next week.

A huge thank you to the City Parks Department for mowing the lawns at the Tidal Pool, moving toward the Promenade. It smells like summer with the freshly cut grass. Thank you for organizing this Councillor Nicola Jowell 👏👏👏

A lovely sunset once more this evening.

If you love dancing listen to Chef Scott Philip Armstrong live now, playing from Nice in France, working in the JAN Kitchen when he is not a DJ. 💃💃💃💃🕺🕺🕺🕺. See the link on my Facebook page ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, and lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
