Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a day starting off with lots of insecurities and ending off on a high note; for two Discovery Gameboard plays; for being able to speak to Stuart Bailey for the first time in weeks, being able to congratulate him on his birthday ; for a lovely 23C day, but windy throughout, especially in Camps Bay this evening; for preparing for meetings today and tomorrow today, feeling very organized; for a Bakoven walk; for good client meetings; for tasting and photographing the new Anatoli Tasting Menu which launches on 1 December; for a lovely dinner at the home of Gary Peterson, intended to be a healthy salad and fruit salad, which Gary supplemented with lamb chops grilled on his famous table grill, mmmm, and followed by a Jammie and Earl Grey tea, with lots of catch up chatting and story telling ❤️; for amazing service from Jaryd of Camps Bay Hardware in getting and delivering exterior light fittings for our EbbTide building, on the eve of his holiday starting tomorrow; and for being happy, healthy and free. 🙏💙l

My Blogpost today was about the new funky and friendly Cause Effect Cocktail Kitchen, which opened in Camps Bay earlier this month.

I had a low point yesterday, physically and emotionally, after showing the German tourists around Cape Town, not receiving a tip and no follow-up gratitude in response to my thanks to them. Being my first tour in 19 months, I was devastated, despite having been told on our course to never expect a tip, and that it is a bonus. It affected my mood today, feeling insecure, despite having such a fabulous alternative job marketing restaurants ❤️. I wrote about my experience in our Tourist Guiding What’s App Group, and felt much better when other guides reported also receiving zero or minimal tips. The ultimate high was when the German couple messaged me this evening, inviting me to join them for dinner at Utopia on Friday, I having booked a table for them yesterday when we made a bubbly stop there. Suddenly my day seemed a whole lot brighter, lightened by the Anatoli tasting and photography, and the lovely evening spent with Gary. All’s well that ends well. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March 2020 and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January 2021, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, moved back to level 3 on 16 June, and moved back to Adjusted Level 4 on 28 June, extended by two weeks on 11 July,  returned to Level 3 on 26 July, returned to Level 2 on 13 September, and returned to Level 1 on 1 October is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
